Ukraine’s Parliamentary Envoy for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova urges the NATO to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, which would let Ukraine to avoid air strikes on civilian objects and murders of peaceful Ukrainians. Not a day of the Russian invasion passes by without victims among the civilian population and destruction of infrastructure - hospitals, schools, kindergartens, museums… 

The aircraft of Russists dropped an extremely powerful bomb on the dramatic theater in Mariupol, while the pilots definitely knew that hundreds of citizens were hiding from the constant shelling in the basement of the building. Russists used multiple rocket launch systems to shell the residents of Mariupol who tried to make it Zaporizhya in the convoy of vehicles. “The enemy shows primal cruelty, slaying Mariupol and its residents. Beating even their ideological tutor, the army of Hitler, terrorist forces of the Russian Federation have been conducting more and more frightening acts of genocide of Mariupol residents, turning the town in blockade into a concentration camp”, Lyudmyla Denisova said, marking that it’s another scary consequences of the NATO resisting to close the Ukrainian sky. 

Due to the acts of Russian terror, there are, in fact, no safe places in Ukraine now. There are only some of the facts of crimes of the Russian aggressor observed over the last 24 hours that the Ukrainian ombudsman turned public attention to.

On March 16, search and rescue crews dismantled the debris of the dormitory in Chernohiv; they found five bodies, three of them were children. In general, 53 deaths of civilians were reported in Chernihiv. In Donetsk region, reports claimed two more dead and two wounded, as Russians opened fire on Verkhnyotoretske on that day. One person died and two were wounded in Bakhmut; two suffered injuries in Mariinka; one person was wounded in Melekine.

In the small hours of March 17, Rubizhne, Popasna and Severodonetsk suffered from massive Russist attacks. 27 houses were on fire in Rubizhne. Gas distribution networks were damaged because of the enemy shelling in Lysychansk, Luhansk region; thus, the town is now cut off the gas supplies. 

The enemy attacked Kyiv again. The shells hit several private houses in Podilsky district. Two multi-story houses were damaged due to the missile strike in Kyiv’s Darnytsky district. One person died, and four were wounded. 

The occupants opened fire on Merefa town in Kharkiv region. A fire that broke out lasted for several hours. A school, a local palace of culture and residential houses were destroyed. 

A fire broke out on the territory of Saltivsky market in Kharkiv. The area engulfed by the fire amounted to 3,600 square meters. The reports claim at least two deceased and five wounded people. Three enemy shells hit the market’s premises.

Ukraine’s Parliamentary Envoy for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova once again turned to the international community and NATO member countries, urging to establish the no-fly zone over Ukraine to stop the genocide of Ukrainian people.
